Our Mission: Creating Safer Communities

We are dedicated to safeguarding our community and building a brighter future for the people of Downriver. Our mission revolves around a single goal: the prevention of underage drinking and drug use. Through our community outreach services, we advocate and educate in the hopes of equipping teens and their families with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions.

Underage Drinking Prevention

About Us

Founded in 2008, the Stop Underage Drinking/Drugs (SUDDs) Coalition emerged from the shared concern of youth across Downriver communities. Fueled by a determination to combat the concerning prevalence of underage drinking and tobacco use, we banded together.

Our goals are to reduce underage drinking, youth access to harmful substances such as alcohol, tobacco and prescription drugs, and to increase community collaboration in the Downriver area. The SUDDs Coalition consists of community members from local schools, law enforcement, city government, faith based groups, businesses, hospitals, and many other organizations.
Partnered with The Guidance Center and backed by funding from the Drug Free Communities Support Program, we extend our reach through an array of prevention and outreach services. Our network of support encompasses 13 Downriver cities, including North Allen Park, Southgate, Melvindale, and beyond. Together, we aim to build a resilient defense against teen drinking and drug abuse.

Vision

Our vision is for a community free of underage drinking and drugs in which its members are knowledgeable about the consequences of their use.
